The Emily Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital has developed an invaluable resource, Our JourneyTM with a Kidney Transplant, aimed at aiding families of children undergoing kidney transplantation. This tool provides essential information for parents to ensure safe at-home care following their child's discharge from the hospital. Additionally, key components of the app may be relevant for outpatient clinic visits or emergency room situations.

During a hospital stay, it is common for parents to feel inundated with medical terminology utilized by healthcare providers. Communication can sometimes fall short, as professionals may not always verify if their explanations are clear to caregivers. The ability to articulate understanding through teach-back methods fosters confidence in comprehending critical information.

The Our JourneyTM with Kidney Transplant app is purposefully designed to:

About The Emily Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital: Established in 1990 and named in memory of Emily Anderson, who valiantly battled a rare leukemia before her untimely passing just days shy of her seventh birthday, the Center was created out of a desire for accessible and comprehensible pediatric health information. Frustrated by the complexities surrounding Emily’s illness, her parents aimed to ensure that families facing similar challenges could easily access accurate information without financial burden.
